The Front
Welcome to your charming mountain cabin near Mt. Rainier National Park
We wanted to restore the inviting Bavarian style that Fillmore's has always had.
After painting the exterior and trim, staining the door, and resurfacing the deck, the exterior had an entirely refreshed look.
We added outdoor accent lighting and cleaned up the landscape to give Fillmore's a welcoming mountain glow that no guest can resist.
The Kitchen
Carpet in the kitchen!? We simply couldn't stand for that. However, kitchen remodels can get so expensive. So instead of ripping it all out we took the beauty that was already there and brought it out. Using the paint sprayer we updated the cabinets to a secluded green color that feels very natural. All hardware got a gold spray paint update and the brink got a clean charcoal grey. A $40 cast iron sink from Offerup, new faucet, and a simple finished plywood built-in for the refrigerator and microwave and you have a brand new kitchen. When remodeling for an airbnb, quality, functionality, and budget always has to be in the forefront.
Living Room
The living room was cozy...but we needed next level cozy. New floors, paint, furniture and a beautiful rug and the living room becomes your oasis while also being able to accommodate more people. Pro tips for building a wonderful space on a budget... wayfair for things you must buy new. Hollow faux mantle ($30), pallet wood fire box ($20) and reuse as much of the decor you can and supplement with wonderful items you can find at area thrift stores. All in all, keep it simple, keep it clean, and keep it comfy.
The Deck
Outdoor living is a staple of trips to the Cascade Mountains. Fillmore's has a great deck and it just needed just a little attention to bring out its potential. New Behr stain and seal, some 8ft light poles, and wire deck railings (kit from Amazon) bring the deck up to date and up to code. Apply some bronzing spray paint to the aging table, re-top the chairs, and add a comfy home built outdoor couch and you have enough seating to host your group and curl up and read a book in nature.
The Loft
Upstairs needed little updating.. However, we did need a little more bed space so that Fillmore's could host groups. Que the queen bed built in solution! Simple framed in bed platforms with drawers underneath, maximize the coziness while providing more sleeping arrangements for larger groups. Pro tip, good high quality beds can be found for free online all the time. Save that money and scope online marketplaces often!
To be a premier vacation rental you don't need to have the most expensive stuff...you need the right stuff! Be creative and build an environment you will love to spend time in!
